CHASS Connect: 2014-2015 Sequences

Students will consider insurgences from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and writings on them to employ questions about insurgent and revolutionary practices and movements at the present moment. Students will learn about the political context and historical significance of each insurgency, and how these movements formed as responses to imperialism in some cases. Students will look into the ways human bodies push the boundaries of state control, and how state and military violence targets vulnerable bodies to shift the terms of the debate.
