CHASS Transfer Pre-Mentorship Program (PSP) Summer Research Institute
The CHASS Transfer PSP Summer Research Institute is a free four-week summer program designed to prepare community college students for successful transfer to UC Riverside. Through a partnership between CHASS and the UCR School of Education, participants gain early exposure to the academic environment of an R1 research university through research opportunities, faculty mentorship, academic skill-building, and peer support. The program strengthens transfer readiness, confidence, and sense of belonging while empowering future transfer students for long-term academic, leadership, and professional success.
Program Details
- Duration: 4 weeks
- Meetings: Twice a week (first and last sessions in person at UCR)
- Activities: Workshops, panels, lectures, personal development, and more
- Cohort Size: 15-20 Community College students
- Completion Benefits: Certificate of Completion for resumes and applications
Eligibility
- Currently enrolled in a Community College
- 18+ years old
- Strong interest in transferring to UCR
- No prior undergraduate degree
Program Requirements
- Attend all sessions
- Complete readings, assignments, and assessments
- Develop a Transfer Application Planner (TAP) Account
- Create a Vision Board & Reflective Journals
- Final Project: Autoethnography Project
